The new UX600 Series is the first Toshiba line used edge LED lighting, but the placement of a full range of LED backlight behind the screen, this television channel space LEDs on the edges of the screen and the light inside. The Energy Conservation Ordinance menu contains options for automatic shutdown after four hours without power signal after 15 minutes and a power-on mode (with fast and energy saving options).

Sony BRAVIA KDL40HX800 Review
It’s been a while since we’ve been able to say this, and another four years before we contractually obliged to say it again, but Sony televisions are currently kicking goals! We were impressed with the company NX700 television as it had style and performance in equal measure. Even if the HX800 aesthetics pares down a bit it’s even better: we dare say it’s the best TV we have seen so far this year?
Design
A look at the Sony HX800 a word that comes to mind: classy. While it misses the bezel-less design of NX700, the bezel deal makes a smooth two-tone design: the bottom edge is made of aluminum, while the “walls” and brushed “Roof” features a piano black color scheme. The TV is Edge-lit (ie the LEDs sit in the bezel), and this allows the TV quite slim. Sure, it’s not as thin as a piece of toast, but if you hang it on the wall it will not be too far from the wall.
Sony’s latest crop of remote controls are “interesting”. They are not as ergonomic as Sony’s competitors and there is a power button on the bottom for inexplicable reasons.
Features
Unlike the Sony LX900, this is a “3D-optional” TV and you have to spend a little extra to watch 3d shows or movies. The stick-on receiver might look a bit ugly, but at least it will cost less, while glasses are also reasonable expensive compared Panasonic and its models.

This is the 40-inch version that is in our heads a little too small for immersive 3D view, but a decent size for most of the material in a modest room. Besides the 3D receiver port, the other compounds are very full with the provision of four HDMI sockets, two component, three AV inputs and a PC connection.
Performance
Up to this point we do not have that with Edge-lit LED set-ups enthusiastic – they tend to have low contrast and muted colors – but Sony’s latest version is actually a Corker. Mind you, if the backlight too much you get some spotting in black areas as a back light haze, but turn it down and that’s when the fun begins! We have always had a preference for Sony’s image processing, and think that this year has exceeded the company. In fact, the HX800 is one of the sharpest, detailed sets we’ve seen in a long time. It’s not even bother to increase artificially sharpness levels are razor sharp and his pictures, of course, noise-free.
This was obvious as soon as we brought a few CDs in the Toshiba BDX2000. The Sony has all of our synthetic image tests with flying colors, although they are not passed all of our real test. Playing the Mission Impossible III Blu-ray disc it showed a slight moire artifacts on parallel lines.

Blacks were deep in a row and we found the set performed well in the dark as it has in a lighted room. In fact, its black level performance was in a dark room just as good if not better as the latest flagship of Panasonic, the VT20. This TV is a genuine all-rounder, and is even visible off-axis. Where the Sony shines with standard-definition content: the King Kong DVD tidy loaded into the player the TV this CD than any we have seen before. Movement was smooth and images in three dimensions.
That brings us to current 3D content. The quality of the 3D playback was on a par with other TVs we’ve seen recently, whether it is with World Cup, 3D Blu-ray or games. Crosstalk was not very clear and had so much to do with the source quality than the screen itself.
While we had some problems with the Panasonic glasses fibrillation with natural or skylight, we did not have any of these issues with the Sony. Where we have trouble with the occasional flicker on white portions of the screen. Otherwise it was the immersion of the experience and the effect was much more heavily than the “in-your-face” effect we had seen before scaled. The TV has a 2D to 3D mode and while it has a bit more depth, we can not really see why you use it. It was not so convincing to make even at the highest setting, but at least we did not want to skid as the Samsung C7000 added.
We have to play around with the different possibilities of 200Hz and found that the “Smooth” mode worked best with the content, but we still prefer the view that the director originally intended.

Although this is probably the fault of content providers and not the TV itself. Finally, sound quality was a highlight of the HX800 and much better than the speakers found on the LX900. It was not as loud, but at least it is not to distort.
Conclusion
It’s a shame Sony does not have stuck with plasma technology, because if the company present this LCD well what it could have done with plasma! Well, only a few years until the game-changing OLED technology goes mainstream wait. Nevertheless, Sony has proven that there is still life in LCD, and has another barnstorming television. This is a very deserving Editors’ Choice winners.

VIZIO XVT423SV Review
The 42-inch LCD Vizio truLED XVT423SV is a serious option if you are looking for an affordable 42-inch HDTV with a nice set of Internet applications. The 1080p TVs with 240Hz refresh rate provide superior image quality. The TV has a glossy, black bezel and sits on an oval stand nonswiveling. Black speakers are visible under the TV on each side of the stand squat neck.
Most of the connectors on the back so that cables are plugged in parallel positions on the screen, but a few of them will keep lines perpendicular to the screen. The XVT423SV has a gold mine of ports – a HDMI connection and three USB ports on the side, and four HDMI ports on the bottom. Also on the bottom of the device, a PC input and a cable/antenna connection. The remaining ports, all located on the back cover, Ethernet, component, A/V-in, Audio Out, Audio In, and an optical interface.
The XVT423SV the remote control is short, stocky, and different: It is a horizontal slider with full QWERTY keyboard inside. Since the remote uses Bluetooth, there is no direct line of sight needed to change channels. The TV is designed to work with other Bluetooth-enabled devices (such as a full size keyboard) pair.
The remote is a bit too thick for a comfortable over the long term, but that’s the price with internal keyboard. The remote control devices are quite simple: a pad, media controls (pause, rewind and so on), four shortcut keys and a large, shiny button for Internet content. The slide-out keyboard is a bit too large to hold comfortably, and it is not the easiest thing to type on: The keys are small and close together, and rubbery.

One of the best features of XVT423SV is that Internet applications such as Netflix and Amazon Video treated as a separate entrance so that a variety of picture controls available to you agent. Options cover different picture modes, backlight, and some advanced controls, but not contrast or color. Since the other TVs in the test group offer virtually no control over the image in the video streaming that is a great feature.
Television is Startup Wizard is started by activating the remote control by pressing the record button and the green shortcut key simultaneously for 5 seconds and then wait for the TV to recognize the remote. Then the wizard will guide you through the connection to the Internet (cable or the TV built-in Wi-Fi) and set up your cable and all media devices.
The black-screen menus appear on the right side, and are not too distracting from what is playing. The highlight color is a light gray-blue. The menus are a bit too edgy to be called elegant, but they are clean and professional looking.

In the pan tests we saw some moderate blur, as we panned a blueprint and the mild shaking as we have a ragged diagonal cityscape. These errors are less noticeable when viewing actual video material, however.
The range of perspectives on the XVT423SV is acceptable: moving to both sides does not affect the image quality much unless you’re watching something with a lot of dark colors. Colors are usually bright and lively, and the movement continues to spit out dark blacks. The picture becomes darker as you move, but this is only a problem if the image on the screen is too dark to start with.

The XVT423SV’s 67-page manual is comprehensive, but not as good as some of the others we have seen presented. The Vizio XVT423SV is fixed above the average compared to the 40 – to 42-inch competition – if not outstanding at anything. For this money, I can wholeheartedly recommend this HDTV.

LG 47LE8500 Infinia HDTV Review
With his lean profile and a strong lineup of features, the LG 47LE8500 Infinia is certainly considered chic connected HDTV. Just over an inch thick, this 47-inch full array packed with backlight LED TV is a good collection of Internet services (including Netflix-on-demand and Vudu) plus a full range of media playback tools, very good sound and lots of individual controls on the Internet. The image quality, as measured in our juried tests generally good to very good. The Infinia 47LE8500 costs more than most competitors in its screen-size class.
Judges usually 47LE8500 awarded high marks for color, brightness and contrast, but it did less well in the classification of detail and sharpness. It tends to be the best to do with “over-the-air” TV content (like a baseball game, wheel of fortune and a vineyard scene), during the battle with Phantom of the Opera DVD (some judges complained of a greenish tint and general darkness) . Judges were also impressed by the picture quality for Blu-ray Disc movies (Mission Impossible III and The Dark Knight. And despite the amount of the 240Hz refresh rate, it did not ace our motion tests. judge observed some stuttering in the diagonal panning clip and some artifacts in our test podium.
Nevertheless, the results were mediocre hovered at worst, and generally in good to very good range. Perfectionists demand better image quality, but most people are happy, especially given the wide range of image adjustment tools – including an ambitious ten-point white-balance control.
As the 50-inch LG Infinia 50PK950, the sleek style 47LE8500 seriously. His glass extends seamlessly across his thin black bezel, ends in a thin, transparent border. In addition to providing access to the usual TV controls and on-screen menu, the buttons on the remote to control SimpLink-compatible devices that allow a remote control, more control over HDMI connected electronics.

LG’s well-designed main screen menus start with two rows of large icons that cover the major categories of controls – Image, channel lineup, Audio, Clock, parental control, and the like – and can also access the Internet functions and handful of simple games (such as Sudoku and Bejeweled clone) in the number of the firmware built. LG offers simple explanations of controls, of which there are many, mainly for image adjustment. But everyone can picture presets, which include a couple of THX-certified modes.
LG’s Simple Manual – a shortened, on-screen version of the long (204 page) PDF, which is available on CD – is useful because the longer documentary about covers a dozen different LG HDTV models, with illustrations, the arene ‘t for exactly that phrase. In print, LG offers a rudimentary setup guide that is not close to all the series of skills. A printed information sheet addresses A/V professionals who use a particular service port to make adjustments.
The Internet features are a key selling point for this set, and LG leads most of them very well. You can in your Flickr account to view your photos and YouTube support is great, so to stop and play with the remote control for example. The Vudu set supports Picasa, and Yahoo Widgets. I tested the set with an Ethernet connection to a DSL router, LG also offers an optional USB WiFi dongle into one of the USB ports on the side connector, for connecting to wireless home networks.

You can view the 47LE8500 as DivX device, after which it can play DivX-protected content.
The audio system was a joy to hear. The surround sound for the Phantom of the Opera Blu-ray disc played on a PlayStation 3 was loud and convincing (though the bass were a bit weak). It is not a real home theater system, but it is a credible replacement. Like most high-end HDTVs, provides the 47LE8500 several preset sound modes (standard, music, cinema, sports and games), as well as features for making speech clearer and to balance total as you see (so that an ad for such are not much louder than the rest of the programming).
The HDTV power consumption meets the Energy Star 4 standard. In our tests, it averaged only 76 watts when turned on and 0 when turned off. The set has a lower energy consumption button that you can use to reduce consumption of electricity by dimming the image.
Altogether, there do share a lot in this fully equipped. But it is expensive. Among competing models of the same order, earned the 46-inch Samsung LN46C650 better grades (even worse-looking specs on paper) and provided even more Internet features.

LG INFINIA 55LE8500 Review
LG 55LE8500 Infinia is a 55-inch widescreen panel. Without the stand, the panel is 50.8 inches x 1.4 inches x 31.6 inches and weighs 78.9 pounds. With the stand, the panel is 50.8 inches x 12.3 cm x 34.4 cm and weighs 96.6 pounds. LCD refresh rate of 240 Hz, the display format is 1080p, response time of 1 ms, image aspect ratio of 16:9. Viewing angle (horizontal/vertical) 178 degree, wide-screen modes include Conventional 4:3, Zoom, 16:9 and Cinema. Picture Control options include sports, games and movies. Other features include XD Engine and sleep timer. Video Interface options include HDMI, composite and component. Input Video Formats 1080p, 1080i and 720p.
The speakers are 2 x left/right channel speakers with an output of 10 watts. The total output is 20 watts. But in contrast to the more expensive LE9500 family, it does not have the thin frame. Overall, television is not the thinnest we have ever seen in our labs, but it is still going smooth and good will with the interior. The inflorescence stalk is squared instead of the usual cylindrical design, and this quickly over the attention.
For this year, get ready for by TV concepts that confuse you hear about most TV: 3D and LED backlight. This TV does not have 3-D feature, LG is dedicated to step up to 9500 models, but this board has LED backlighting. More important than that is the fact that these are LED-backlit option also for local dimming. This means tons of independent cells to brighten or dim, to give superior image quality. We are here because of this there are many out there LED TVs that do not have local dimming, and thus the LED technology is not exploited to its fullest worth. Or some times they imitate the dimming of a full array of edge lit configuration zones. This does not have much impact on image quality.
LG Infinia 55LE8500 the image quality has a bug that will be definite heart breaker for videophiles: the screen is not uneven uniformity. On the bright side, this disc has to have good color accuracy and black level reached a new level. We will recommend this TV if you do not have to pay maintenance and 3D are ready for an extra LCD.
LG Infinia 55LE8500 comes with a revised remote control and the buttons are easy to tell apart from feeling. They have rubberized grip that feels comfortable to press. There is a bulge in the middle, the remote control and ergonomically comfortable on the index finger of the bottom makes it a convenient notch that corresponds well to the bulge. This remote can not control other devices via infrared. The menus are pretty easy and getting around is easy. We liked the quick menu shortcut key. There are many advanced features, and we would have desired text explanations for it.

The big highlight of this panel is the local dimming LED elements. We also saw this on other high-end TVs like Samsung and LG 8500 LH90. LG reps said that dimmed this field with 240, is independent zones. The 47 inch panel in the same series has 216th Samsung, on the other hand, does not disclose the number of zones.
Other features that need to be mentioned here, are the LG Wireless media box, which you can connect to connect HDMI and other such devices wirelessly. LG has many Internet options and built in Wi-Fi would have been better, but you have to make peace with a dongle or a third party wireless bridge. Dongle worked fine for this TV but we do not have the media box test for this review.
LG was the first player in 2009 but now Netflix is all manufacturers have jumped on the train. They do not get Pandora or Slacker Radio but apart from these, there is nothing missing on this TV. We did not not write USB streaming for this record. When we first this TV from LG for the review, the Ethernet was not working on it. We asked LG about this and sent them to find another unit in our labs, in which the Ethernet was working. The company told us that there were problems with the firmware. Next, we tested Vudu and Netflix streaming on LG Infinia 55LE8500 and the video quality has exceeded our expectations both by the Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
There are tons of Internet streaming capabilities, but that’s not all on the LG Infinia 55LE8500. Apart from Picasa, all of Yahoo Widgets. If we were to write this review, we have access to only ten widgets. We liked the platform here, the better answers faster and faster loading widgets. But there is still room for improvement in terms of speed, the main widget tray takes about 20 seconds to load and this can be quite frustrating if you lack patience.

Samsung UN55C8000 Review
Samsung 55″ UN55C8000 is in the comfortable middle of its 2010 3D LED (LCD) line, although it will (has .3 more expensive a higher valuation contrast ratio than the next, wafer-thin”) C9000 series.
The C8000s Samsung LED are the only 3D models “Precision Dimming” (commonly known as local dimming) function and adds 240 Hz refresh and slim .9″ deep. Due to a panel uniformity problem in our factory loaner review unit, we limit this first look at its 3D capabilities and performance.
This has set a thin (1″ 55 to finish) bezel with a brushed aluminum type. It includes a chrome-plated swivel Quad-legged stand and a backlit remote control. All inputs are on the back of the plate (four HDMI, one composite video with L/R audio, dual USB and an Ethernet jack). Because of the thin panel design, Samsung waived the standard Ethernet, analog audio/video, D-Sub 15 pin PC and component video jacks replace miniature jacks and delivered content, “dongle.”
The C8000 is a product data sheet states that “3D action provides smooth movement and 240 Hz, but while the set contains both functions, they are not active at a time. refreshed with 2D sources, the amount of 240 frames per second with motion estimation/motion compensation interpolated intermediate images 24, 30 or 60 frames per second to create content. In 3D mode, the C8000 shows 120 active frames per second (60 per eye) with Black Frame Insertion between active picture box. The result left panel, black frame, the right picture frame black, left image, etc.
Due to the lack of 3D content with full HD (1920 x 1080 per eye), our starting material consists of two Blu-ray discs: “Monsters and Aliens” and Panasonic 3D demo disc. Our tests show the movie mode is closest to the ideal settings for the default user picture settings. We found that without glasses, the image brightness measured 44.67 m Lambert in the 3D “Standard” mode and 43.20 m Lamberts (w/o glasses) in the “Movie” mode. Select the glasses and placing a lens in front of our Konica/Minolta LS-100 light meter, a measurement Lamberts 14.60 m (standard) and 13.84 m Lamberts (Movie). We have never observed cross-talk in our assessment of the Panasonic TC-P50VT20 (link).
We have also tried Panasonic demo disc and found cross-talk in the coral reef fish underwater scenes segment (currently our favorite demo, because the fish seem to float in space in front of the screen). Crosstalk is a by-product of the 3D LED-LCD technology? Based on the analysis and comparison of a single model that we can not draw such a conclusion, however, produced the Panasonic plasma, a crosstalk-free 3D experience with some of the same content.
2D -> 3D
The Samsung 3D-ready devices have the ability, ordinary 2D content in what we like to convert to call genuine simulated 3D. The conversion adds depth to the image, even though it strongly depends on the material from. Some content looks more impressive than others. Our two favorites for the conversion to date are the new Star Trek Blu-ray and the NCAA playoffs. Both offer great depth from a flat image, although we have not seen each object appear in front of the screen (called the negative Z-axis) and do not know if it’s possible.

Conclusion
The Samsung produces a fine 3-D experience in the depth, clarity and diving and we appreciate the 2D-> 3D conversion, but we found the crosstalk to a distracting annoyance to an otherwise exciting experience to be. The UN55C7000 is a medium-sized, 55-inch 3D TVs from Samsung, which looks attractive, a very slim profile and excellent image quality with LED.
